Welcome

I specialize in intensive treatment for marriages and relationships in crisis. While many of my patients are seeking to simply improve their relationships, my work targets the point where traditional therapies have not been fruitful and separation or divorce seems inevitable. Most of my patients have had two, three or more traditional individual and couple's therapies over the years without being able to stop their chronic disharmony and slide toward dissolution. My patients are now ready to invest in specialized treatment trying to avoid the emotional pain of loss and divorce as well as the lasting expenses incurred within the legal system.

My on-going work, based on the theories and practices developed by Terry Real and Pia Melody, usually occurs in sessions lasting two to three hours each.  However, many couples elect to have their initial session be a full day intervention. These methods afford an in-depth grasp of the relevant issues and provide the direction couples facing separation and divorce require in order to repair their relationships. Most couples hope to avoid the long-term emotional, relational and financial consequences so common in separation and divorce, while anguishing over the impact such a decision will have upon their children. My work is best described as: "Pulling relationships back from death's door."

I have thirty years experience in helping couples reestablish the emotional and physical closeness they once enjoyed. I do so by helping the couple identify and stop their chronic and negative communication patterns and behaviors which, over the years, have resulted in the accumulation of anger and resentment. I help each partner identify and understand how financial, sexual, familial and work related pressures impact their relationship and contribute to the alienation each so often is experiencing in their relationship.
